Digital Printmaking Intensive
Jerry Courvoisier
October 16 - October 18, 2009

This workshop is currently full. Please call to be placed on the waiting list (505) 983-1400, ext. 11.

This two-and-a-half-day, hands-on workshop compresses and streamlines the digital printmaking process. Jerry guides participants as they discover how to craft images to perfection with Adobe Photoshop and HP printers, developing an in-depth understanding of managing color accurately and achieving smooth, subtle transitions when creating fine-art quality prints.

Using Photoshop, we learn to build an image file that preserves excellent detail by adjusting images with maximum control. The workshop covers all the bases, including the best way to convert color to black-and-white, sharpening methods that enhance detail, and simple layering and masking techniques—everything necessary to successfully navigate the HP printer and software. We experiment with different kinds of printing papers to understand how they affect image presentation and quality. We also explore image size and its effects on tone, sharpness, and the overall character and impact of a printed image.
