The Book Journey
Eddie Soloway
June 21 - June 27, 2009

This workshop is filling quickly. Please call soon to register (505) 983-1400, ext. 11.
We are fortunate to live at a time when the tools to make a beautiful, personal book are well-honed and literally at our fingertips. Print-on-demand books have emerged as a practical way for every photographer to celebrate a body of work, a personal experience, or a creative idea.

Open to anyone with a book concept and an edited set of images (and text if desired), this new workshop takes participants from the initial idea to the finished book. Under Eddie’s guidance, we go through each step in the process: clarifying the idea, editing images and any text, learning the digital workflow to maintain the beauty of our images, designing a layout, and uploading the finished book. Throughout the week, we analyze examples of beautiful books for inspiration as we acquire the tools to bring book making into our repertoire.

Instructor(s)

Eddie Soloway's photographs are the expression of his passion and commitment to the natural world. His eye has developed during three decades of exploring the earth’s wild places. He spent 10 years working for the Institute for Earth Education where he helped develop wilderness journeys and school curricula and conducted educational workshops in five countries.

Today Eddie devotes his time to teaching, making fine-art prints, and shooting for Getty Images. His book, One Thousand Moons, was published in the summer of 2004. An impassioned teacher, Eddie brings experiences in both nature and photography to his workshops. He was the first recipient of the “Excellence in Photographic Teaching” award presented by the Santa Fe Center for Photography. This is Eddie’s 16th year teaching at the Workshops.
