The StoryPortrait
Genevieve Russell
February 2 - February 6, 2009

Everyone has a story to tell. The role of a visual storyteller is to listen actively, observe poetically, and combine raw material into a compelling experience of a person or place. The StoryPortrait weaves images with audio to capture a moment in time, from a loved one’s laugh to a historic event. Whether you choose to capture life’s milestones, focus on one special person or capture “a day in the life,” we explore the creative approaches and technical skills behind producing multimedia projects.

Through in-class discussion, field assignments and lab time, we create media-rich audiovisual portraits that inform and engage. Delve deeper into the story behind your subjects through research, recordings, interviews and photographs. The infusion of sound during the editing and sequencing process enriches our documentary projects and photographic essays.

Document people and places you love and share your StoryPortrait on the Web, TV or DVD.
