Now that you are familiar with your digital camera and understand the basics of how it works, it is time to explore how this exciting medium can be used to express your personal vision more precisely. This workshop focuses on investigating what inspires us to stop and make a photograph, and using that information to make images of what we truly see and feel.
The great advantage of a digital camera is the instantaneous feedback it provides, which allows us to view what the camera sees at the moment of conception and to explore the camera’s features and settings right in the field. We learn to use advanced features including custom white balance, exposure compensation, custom settings, flash, histograms, color and contrast adjustments, Raw format, and managing photographic files. At the same time, Marcia helps us see how this technology can support our personal vision rather than get in its way.
The week includes learning advanced features of the camera, photographing the magnificent landscapes of northern New Mexico, exploring the art and technique of photographing people, exercises to stretch the imagination, demonstrations of post-camera techniques, reviewing participant images, learning the best ways to store, edit, and print photographs, and one-on-one sessions with Marcia. Participants leave with an enhanced knowledge, self-confidence, and passion for photography, helping them to continue their personal photographic journey.
