Photograph, organize, process, deliver, and store your images— it seems simple enough, except that today a digital assignment or personal project might generate thousands of images. For such high-volume projects, it is essential to have a streamlined workflow in which all components in the digital chain work together seamlessly. In this hands-on workshop, Michael Britt shares the workflow process that he developed while working on high-pressure digital assignments for some of the most demanding clients in the industry.
Starting with an in-depth introduction to Adobe Lightroom, Michael guides participants in adapting analog film techniques to the digital workflow and using Lightroom as a primary capture tool. Specific topics covered include capturing an optimal digital file; tethered and CF card capture workflow; editing and image adjustment techniques; file organization and archiving strategies; delivering Web galleries, contact sheets, and digital files online; and how to make a round trip from Lightroom into Adobe Photoshop for final retouching and printing. The week also includes instruction on organizing and managing large amounts of data after capture. One-on-one time with Michael ensures that each participant learns how to customize a personal workflow.
Participants are encouraged to bring current projects, including Raw files, on an external hard drive or CD and should be prepared to make new images using the capture techniques learned in class.
