This introduction to the exciting world of Nikon digital SLR photography demystifies the digital realm and teaches participants how to get the most out of the digital process. We begin by covering key concepts and learning the technical elements of using digital cameras so that we can get to the heart of the matter: how to make great photographs with a digital camera. The digital workflow is explained, demonstrated, and practiced. We learn how to download images from the camera to the computer; how to crop, resize, and manipulate images on the computer; and how to prepare images for printing or e-mailing. Most importantly, we learn how to save, organize, and archive our images for future use.
We explore the influence we as photographers have on the digital workflow and ways of getting the most out of hardware and software. Other topics covered include how the Nikon NEF (Raw) file allows us to achieve optimal images and a versatile file format, and the use of various lenses and other accessories, such as Nikon speedlights, that make picture taking easier and more productive.
