Beginning Photoshop
Lesa Snider King
July 13 - July 19, 2008

This workshop is currently full. Please call to be placed on the waiting list (505) 983-1400, ext. 11. We've added a session of Beginning Photoshop August 3-9.

Acquire the keys to image-editing success in this introduction to the concepts, language, and tools of Adobe Photoshop. Participants master the basics of navigation, selection tools, copy and paste functions, layers, photo compositing, and filters for interesting visual effects. Through discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on application, we explore image adjustment and retouching techniques. We also investigate resolution of images originating from scanners and digital cameras.

Over the course of the week, we learn how to fine-tune the computer to best run Photoshop; navigate to and explore all the tools within the tool palette; define and manipulate selections; copy, paste, and use drag-and-drop editing; adjust images for tone and color using levels and curves; use quick mask; use photo-retouching techniques; and create image and type layers. Evening lab hours ensure that everyone has adequate time to practice new skills and complete individual and group projects. Participants leave with a solid foundation in Photoshop, ready to move on to creative experimentation and project work.
