The Sandy Hook Tragedy: A Unique Opportunity to Help
Santa Fe Workshops Alum Lynn Harrison's Winning Bid: $4,863.00
It began when Brian Toogood asked if we could help him donate the entire Grand Prize* package he won in our OUTSIDE contest, valued at $4,463.00, to the My Sandy Hook Family Fund charity. It ended with Lynn Harrison, a Santa Fe Workshops alum, making the winning bid of $4,863.00. She made the donation directly to the My Sandy Hook Family Fund.
Brian was thrilled and touched by the results of the auction, and he asked that we send his thanks to all who bid, made donations, and contacted us with their care and concern for the Sandy Hook families.
Brian was also very pleased to hear that Santa Fe Workshops is inviting him to join us for a workshop in Santa Fe in 2013, as a way for us to acknowledge his generous action.
Inspired by Brian Toogood's generosity, one of our instructors (who asked to remain anonymous) will also be making a $2,000.00 donation to the My Sandy Hook Family Fund. This brings the total known donation to the charity to $6,863.00. We know that many of you also made donations.
We contacted the director of the My Sandy Hook Family Fund, and here is a portion of his response,
"Just when I didn't think I could well up with tears again, your email hit my inbox. Just fantastic. So heartwarming and wonderful. Thank you all. Thank you Mr. Toogood.
We in Sandy Hook are overwhelmed with all the kindness and support that has been shown our community over the past two weeks. It's a testament to the depth of soul of the good people all over our wonderful country and, in fact, around the world."
And now we say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who bid or who has donated thus far. The response from you all was thoughtful and considerate. We extend special thanks to the winning bidder Lynn Harrison, to the contest sponsors who so graciously supported the auction, to the anonymous Santa Fe Workshops instructor for the added donation, and to Horses For Heroes New Mexico Inc. for adding the Cowboy Up! photo shoot. The biggest thanks goes to Brian Toogood, for initiating this generous gesture.
With warm wishes for 2013,
