Day of the Dead, a traditional and visually stunning celebration known all over the world for its grandiosity and at the same time for its warmth and intimacy, is a story and a tradition of interest to photographers of all levels. Join National Geographic photographer Tino Soriano and capture the street dances and parades, the mournings and the altars of this vibrant and moving celebration. Experience the colors, the smells, the flavors and the sightings. Explore the graveyards that, adorned with seas of candles and the traditional “Flower of the Dead” or Cempazuchitl, give you unique opportunities to create stunning imagery. In this workshop we focus on portrait techniques, spontaneous photography, and classic story telling. We also review fundamental photography techniques that help you highlight the spirit of the place, the people, and the celebrations. Visiting the ancient ruins of Mitla, the Benito Juarez market, the pre-Hispanic ruins of Monte Albán, Santo Domingo church, and the beautiful town of Ocotlán round out your experience of this extraordinary cultural treasure.
