Reportage: Varanasi, India 2012
with Michael Hintlian, Glen Cooper
November 14 - November 23, 2012

This workshop has already begun or is a past workshop.

Have you always wanted to help others with your photographs but just don't know how to connect with the mechanics of ground arrangements, the right aid organization, and putting it all together so you can make the pictures?

Join Visual Reportage for their exploration of Varanasi, India. Varanasi—with its many religious places, temples, Hindi pilgrims and the sacred River Ganges—is India’s cultural capital, one of its holiest cities, and a place of amazing visual opportunity for all levels of photographers.

Visual Reportage workshops offer hands-on opportunities to develop and polish your skills as a photographer and story-teller, providing day-to-day support for your visual development as you work, all the while helping those that need it most.

Working relationships with well-established, world-recognized relief organizations provides access to their expertise and aid in working in these challenging areas. In exchange for their help, they have access to the media produced during the workshop. Every photographer whose work is submitted to and used by an NGO will retain full copyright.

There is something completely raw and emotional about discovering a place for the first time. And this is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip that fosters not only great photography but also incredible self-exploration and bonds that last a lifetime. Be part of a trip that Visual Reportage cannot offer twice; there will be other destinations but only one first time to travel to Varanasi.

Deposit: $500 (Fully refundable up to two months prior to departure or if your spot can be filled.) Includes: workshop with nightly critiques, field help, tech help, and guidance; welcome and closing dinners; lodging in a guest house/hotel, double occupancy; local cell phone service (pending approval); 1 hour post-workshop edit/critique/tutorial session back in the United States. Airfare, meals and ground transportation are not included. Full details: http://visualreportage.com. Please mention that your learned about this opportunity through Santa Fe Photographic Workshops.
