Bhutan: Land of the Thunder Dragon
September 14 - September 29, 2012

This workshop has already begun or is a past workshop.

In a world that seems to get smaller and more homogenous with each passing day, Bhutan is truly unique—a visually astounding, culturally fascinating and stubbornly traditional Himalayan kingdom.

A country of almost surreal natural beauty, Bhutan is graced with an ancient culture deeply rooted in Buddhist values. The government refers to the “Gross National Happiness” of the country as a more important measure of true progress than their GNP.

During our extended adventure (12 full days in Bhutan), we travel half the breadth of the country, visit the most prominent Dzongs (fortress / monasteries) and take frequent easy-to-moderate day hikes to rural villages and temples, where millennia-old Tibetan Buddhist rituals continue unchanged.

This special departure includes the masked dance festival at Gantey Monastery. The workshop includes discussion and field demonstrations on both technical and aesthetic aspects of photography, as well as private, one-on-one review sessions of your work in progress, via laptop computer. The emphasis is on helping you to advance your own distinctive, personal style by combining elements from fine art, documentary and travel photography.

Group size limited to 12.

Includes tuition and land cost only. For complete information, visit www.HimalayanOdyssey.net or call (800) 970-5904. A $500 discount is offered for early registration (by May 1, 2012). Please mention that you learned about this opportunity through Santa Fe Photographic Workshops.
