Take a photographic journey with gorgeous high-desert light in some of Santa Fe’s most alluring gardens and learn how to capture the beauty of these intriguing spaces. During this two-and-a-half day workshop we visit a variety of gardens and explore the basic principals of successful garden photography, honing a variety of techniques for depicting the essence and quality of a garden in a cohesive sequence of images. This leads to the production of a visual story; you learn, in step-by-step detail, how to create a garden feature for a magazine. Elements you master include the all-important establishing wide shot, which is vital in showing the overall aspect and design of the garden, mid shots that create pace, and the close-ups used to highlight detail and points of interest. At various intervals, we view many types of garden images in a series of slideshows as well as spend time critiquing work, both as a group and individually. Francesca’s specially designed exercises help you discover how to capture, in the simplest way possible, the best images for any given situation. There are many tricks up the garden photographer’s sleeve! INSTRUCTOR(S)
