Engage in an intimate study of the creation of artful and evocative women’s portraiture. Jennifer is known for a distinctive visual style that plumbs the antique and incorporates the forgotten or discarded, and in this workshop we tap into our own creativity and discover methods for crafting similarly sensitive and intense photographs, from conception to conclusion. Learn how to translate your inspiration into images, define your own personal style, and effectively communicate your ideas to your subjects. In the studio and in stunning Santa Fe locations, we explore the creation of layered composite images, delving into tried and true techniques for antiquing, processing, and finishing photographs for final printing. We work with models to practice our new skills, while finding inspiration for studio imagery and discovering simple solutions for high-impact style. We also explore innovative, delicate posing methods; surprisingly simple, beautiful lighting ideas; and easy, fresh styling concepts. Though in-depth portfolio reviews and daily critiques, you gain specific strategies for improving your technical skill set and strengthening your vision. Embrace an intricate and intuitive method of making portraits in this intense course that celebrates women—and inspires you as an artist. INSTRUCTOR(S)
