This program is organized and operated by Cuba Cultural Travel, in consultation with, and endorsed by, the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. Cuba Cultural Tours welcomes you to participate in this people-to-people educational exchange that offers a rare opportunity to interact with, and get to know, Havana’s people and discover its culture and the spirit of Cuba. Activities include interactions with Cubans at Havana’s produce markets, a sports complex, elementary school, dance practices, religious centers, artist’s studios, and time spent in private homes to name a few locations. The streets of Havana invigorate your senses with the graciousness of the Cuban people, the texture and detail of the European Colonial architecture, and the complexity of Cuban life that greets you in every direction. As you immerse yourself in the streets of Havana with Tony Bonanno and two local Cubans as your guides and translators, you discover the frozen-in-time quality of the Cuban environment. Together you undertake a journey to interact with, and develop a vision of, the people in the capitol city of Havana. Tony’s frequent journeys to Cuba have opened many doors and he shares his favorite locations and friendships to enrich this cross-cultural exchange. This revealing week offers the opportunity to meet and interact with the Cuban people and develop a clearer understanding of their lives, country, and rich culture.
