Photographers often start in one place and wind up in another. Over time, encumbered by the complexities of our hectic lives and the demands of the marketplace, it is easy to lose sight of why we started to photograph in the first place. While this workshop is for experienced photographers who want to regain that vision, it is equally as appropriate for younger, committed photographers who want to move forward with a more clearly direction. Participants bring their first pictures, early work prints and contacts, along with new work, and new ideas. We examine our photographic history and process, to see where we have come from, and to determine possible directions for the future. Daily assignments are geared specifically to each participant, photographed in the afternoon and evening, and reviewed the following morning. Our goal is to uncover themes and lines of vision that may not be evident to each individual. We immerse ourselves in photography morning, noon, and night, from the past to the present. Various book projects, exhibitions, personal documentaries, as well as the work of leading photographers who have contributed to the medium are discussed. Any format, film or digital, in black & white or color, is acceptable. INSTRUCTOR(S)
