Designed for photographers new to digital photography, this workshop shows you how to take control of the digital process, and consequently, how to take your work to the next level. You begin by developing a familiarity with your digital camera and learning the basic settings for optimal picture taking. In addition, you learn about the process that enables you to transfer your images seamlessly from your camera to your computer. Out in the field, Cotton guides you on photographic assignments that fully utilize both the amazing light of a New Mexico winter and your camera’s technical features. Back in the Workshops state-of-the-art digital lab, we review and critique photos taken on location, then practice techniques for downloading, importing, organizing, editing, processing, and printing images using Photoshop Elements. In addition to basic image adjustments, Cotton guides us through working with selections, layers, color enhancement, and retouching tools. We explore raw and JPEG formats, using the text tool, creating panoramas, and how to prepare images for emailing, or for presentation on the web. By the end of the workshop, you acquire a new comfort level with your digital camera and a working knowledge of Photoshop Elements that gives you the confidence and ability to organize and enhance your images with skill and ease.
