Burma is one of those few remaining, magical places that feels overlooked by the modern world. The country is steeped in an amazingly rich history, and graced with a vibrant, living religion that permeates every aspect of daily life. This workshop offers 12 full days in-country, with visits to nearly all of Burma’s most iconic settings: the solid-gold encrusted spires of the Schwedagon Pagoda, the temple-studded plains of Pagan, a classic boat cruise down the Irriwaddy River, and visits to numerous hilltribe villages near the Chinese border. We’ll also explore magnificent Mandalay and the sublime beauty of Inle Lake. This tour is scheduled to coincide with the annual Ananda Pagoda Festival in Pagan (also known as Bagan). The Burmese people are amongst the friendliest and open in all of Southeast Asia. Visually, the country is a photographer’s paradise, with superb opportunities for shooting religious architecture, lush and varied landscapes, and environmental portraiture of traditional cultures. This workshop with David Samuel Robbins is for photographers interested in developing a more distinctive, personal style of imagery within the “travel photography” genre. The schedule includes field demonstrations and individual, one-on-one review of your work in progress.
Includes tuition and land cost only. For complete information, visit www.HimalayanOdyssey.net or call (800) 970-5904. Please mention that you learned about this opportunity through Santa Fe Photographic Workshops.
