A great portrait is most successful when photographer and subject truly connect, creating an energy and experience that goes beyond the technical. It reveals something significant about the sitter and the photographer, and it can be an intimate and emotional experience for both.

Whether you are testing models for your editorial fashion portfolio or photographing simple portraits of your kids, your knowledge of image, style, and communication skills deepens your work.

Under Andrew's guidance, we discuss some of the masters of portrait photography and examine how they relate to and inform our work. We discover how the choice of location or studio further defines our work and learn to more effectively express our ideas using wardrobe, hair, makeup, and lighting. We develop interpersonal skills that deepen our connection with subjects and clients alike. In daily photography sessions with models—both on location and in the studio—participants explore the use of various light sources, including strobe, Kino-Flo, tungsten, and daylight. This hands-on experience enables us to expand our relationship to portraiture and enrich our experience as photographers.

Join Andrew for a five-day journey that changes your approach to your work—and your point of view.
