Intensive: Experimental Digital Printmaking
with Cotton Miller
July 19 - July 20, 2014

This workshop has already begun or is a past workshop.

Since digital photography has taken a firm hold of the medium, photographers have been searching for more traditional techniques for making prints. What used to take hours or days in the darkroom takes only seconds in Adobe Lightroom. The tangible, hands-on approach to photography has been replaced by instantaneous sharing in a strictly digital space. These modern tools have allowed contemporary artists to combine traditional techniques with digital technology. The digital era has also allowed photographers to venture like never before into the world of traditional artistic mediums, such as drawing and painting.

For two days, Cotton guides participants as they explore a variety of experimental processes, thinking outside the box and pushing the boundaries of what photography can be. We learn how to print on materials other than traditional inkjet media, such as metal, and discover how to transfer images using solvents and acrylic mediums. Participants come away with new ideas, broadened perspectives, and the eagerness to approach photographic printmaking in innovative ways.

Tuition for this Intensive includes two lunches.
