Redwood National Park: Land of Giants
with David Middleton, Brenda Berry
April 16 - April 20, 2014

This workshop has already begun or is a past workshop.

Redwood National Park is a land of giants and of giant photographic possibilities. There are, of course, giant trees—mind-bogglingly huge—in groves and in forests so dripping with green it's as if all other colors were too embarrassed to show up.

We photograph the Howland Hill Road (David and Brenda’s favorite!), as well as the beautiful stands in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park and in the Prairie Creek area—home to the famous Lady Bird Johnson Grove. April is the perfect time to photograph the redwoods; the forests are at their foggiest, making for beautiful compositions, and wildflowers and rhododendrons are still in bloom.

We check out Gold Bluffs Beach with its wonderful redwood driftwood and its resident herd of elk roaming amid blooming beach lupines. We also explore the verdant little cleft draped with maidenhair ferns known as Fern Canyon and the beach patterns of Point St. George. And if that isn’t enough, sunsets are right in town, with in-shore sea stacks and Castle Rock as your backdrop to the setting sun.

Beautiful forests, wild beaches, humongous trees—it doesn’t get better than this!

Includes tuition, snacks, and beverages. Transportation, lodging, and meals are not included.
