Video Boot Camp: Master Your Movie Mode
with Richard Newman
March 10 - March 14, 2014

This workshop has already begun or is a past workshop.

There is no better way to explore the exciting possibilities of creating your own videos than to actually do it. Because the functions of still and motion cameras have merged significantly in recent years, it is critical to learn the proper techniques to expand your visual storytelling capabilities. Join Richard as he takes you through the entire process of creating a video on your video camera or new video-capable D-SLR.

To build the foundation for our class video project, we begin with the basics in a hands-on environment, followed by scripting and storyboarding. We cover lighting, camera moves, creative camera techniques, and the proper way to record sound. Then we take our footage into Adobe Premier Pro CS6 for editing. We discuss the differences between editing programs, manipulate imported footage, mix in still photographs, then create and finalize a rough cut. After the basic video is complete, we flesh out and polish the work using sound effects, music, and titles. Finally, our finished product is premiered at the end-of-workshop dinner and presentation event.

Working with video can seem technically overwhelming, but by using Richard's practical, application-oriented approach, participants learn by doing—and have fun at the same time.
