Fine-Art Digital Printmaking
QUESTIONS? Call us at 505.983.1400 x11.
The great challenge, and ultimately the satisfying joy, of digital printmaking is to produce a print that matches our vision of an image. We accomplish this goal when we know the tools at our disposal and how to use them in a clear and repeatable way.
This is also the goal of this fun, one-day seminar with Greg Gorman, one of the world’s most respected photographers and printmakers. Having printed all of his own exhibition prints for the past seven years, Greg focuses on how you can make your digital printing process as concise as possible to achieve the prints you envision.
This in-depth seminar covers the tools at our disposal to perfect the printmaking process—cameras and lenses, software for digital workflow, printers, inks, and papers. In addition to these technical aspects, Greg also focuses on the importance of developing a personal printing style and how to get there.
Topics covered over the course of the day include: choosing your hardware and software; color management and the importance of display calibration; how to optimize images for printing and adjust them with the utmost control; making great black-and white conversions; archival paper and ink selections; and choosing the right printer to bring your image to life in a beautiful print. Greg then details his step-by-step workflow as you watch him build several files and prints a selection of his iconic images on an Epson 3880 printer.
If you have not yet perfected the ability to consistently produce prints you are proud of and mirror your vision for an image, this seminar with Greg is a smart (and fun!) way to spend your day.
