Is it still possible to have career in editorial and advertising photography? Yes, but it's more challenging than ever and you need to be armed with an up-to-date understanding of the current marketplaces, both regional and national.
Join Art Streiber and Frank Ockenfels 3 in this two-day intensive seminar and get ready to leap forward in your photographic career. Working professionals, emerging professionals, and college and university photography majors are encouraged to attend.
Our unique seminar format allows you to interact with both Art and Frank in both small group settings and joint sessions each day. In addition, a two-hour panel discussion* with LA picture professionals rounds out Saturday.
Art and Frank, two of the top editorial and commercial photographers in the country, photograph for clients such as Vanity Fair, Esquire, Entertainment Weekly, Fortune, Wired, Rolling Stone, Nike, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures, MTV, Converse, and HBO. Together, they share their insights from 20+ years working in the photo industry, answer your questions, and discuss topics to include but not limited to:
Getting the Job: Building your website and portfolio. Breaking into the photo industry. Getting your work in front of prospective clients. Choosing an agent and knowing the right time to do so. Creating personal work, and staying current.
Prepping the Job: Estimating editorial and advertising jobs. Contracts, pre-production, and working with a producer. Organizing the shoot, hiring assistants, creative meetings with clients. Building shot lists and lighting diagrams, and location scouting. Renting vs. owning equipment.
Shooting and Finishing the Job: Creatively shooting stills and video to fulfill the clients assignment and beyond. Custom printing and retouching. Editing, delivery of images, and billing practices.
