Magenta bougainvillea cascades down lime green walls, freshly washed cobblestone streets turn lovely hues of yellow and blue in the early morning light, and bright red chilies hang against azure skies. Mexico is an explosion of color, and San Miguel de Allende is the perfect place to explore photography and color. This workshop is designed for both amateur and professional photographers wishing to take their understanding and appreciation of color to a higher level.

Through daily photo assignments, critiques, and discussions, participants are encouraged to experiment and take chances. The main focus is on investigating light and color while working to establish your particular “visual fingerprint.” Arthur guides and inspires participants to see how their unique vision of the world can help to develop and refine an individual style, for personal enjoyment or commercial success.

The workshop begins with a review of each photographer’s images and a discussion of personal and career goals. In addition to addressing the aesthetics of color photography, Arthur leads group critiques and consults individually with each participant. Daily assignments put classroom techniques into practice as we take advantage of the incredible light and color of San Miguel. Participants leave at the end of the week with a more dynamic portfolio, a greater awareness of their strengths, and an enhanced sensitivity to light and color.
