Successful travel photography evolves from a series of images that tell the viewer what it feels like to be in a place. Even though photography is a visual medium, great travel images must stimulate all the senses to unveil aromas, moods, colors, flavors, and expressions—the essence of a particular destination. Explore the craft of fine-art travel photography with Mark and learn to create photographs that go far beyond the “I was there” picture to reveal your story and experience. In this valuable workshop for all who travel with their cameras by their sides, we strive to create expressive landscapes and evocative townscapes, as well as powerful environmental portraits and photographic essays—a collection of images that tell our unique impressions of a place. Mark brings his popular workshop to Santa Fe during the vibrant summer season. With his guidance and insights, participants put their ideas into practice using the myriad sights and delights of Northern New Mexico. In addition, we hone our technical skills including the use of “fast” lenses, filters, and the creative use of flash. In the classroom and on location, Mark and the participants place special emphasis on the conception, creation, and production of an in-depth photo essay that evokes the captivating story of a travel adventure.
