Ah, Florence! The city where the Renaissance began is a living museum of art and culture. Come explore its streets, piazzas, and great works of art and architecture In the company of excellent guides. Tour leaders Brenda Tharp and Jed Manwaring take you to premier photographic locations to capture the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Corridor, and the Duomo. A short drive from Florence transports us to the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We stay in Chianti, among some of the best-preserved landscapes in Italy, some virtually unchanged since artists depicted them 500 years ago. The region has large areas of woodlands, is interspersed with vineyards, and is dotted with medieval towns high on hills and ridges. The quality of light here has inspired generations of artists. Among our destinations are Pienza and San Gimignano. Those wishing to extend their stay then travel via train to Cinque Terre National Park, where we spend the next four days exploring the small villages by foot and train. The park, located in northern Italy, boasts 10 miles of rocky coastline, terraced hills, and vineyards sloping steeply down to the sea. Five small villages, each with its own character, are built into the rocks between the beach and hills. Our days are spent photographing the village scenes, the locals, and the sunsets over the Mediterranean. Join Brenda and Jed for this incredible cultural and photographic opportunity. The emphasis of the trip is on photography, yet it is one that non-photographic travelers can enjoy just as well. The pace on this amazing journey provides ample opportunity to wander!
Includes tuition and land cost. Cinque Terre extension is $1,595. For complete information visit www.phototc.com or contact Strabo International Tour Company at (607) 756-8676. Group size is limited to 12. Please mention that you learned about this opportunity through the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops.
