It highlights composition, intensifies texture, and evokes the visual essence of the subject. For the modern photographer who wants to elevate their level of expertise in this classic medium, there’s no better or more accessible tool than Adobe Photoshop.

Join Rick for two-and-a-half days focused on the Photoshop features—both introductory and intermediate—that allow you to significantly improve your black-and-white imagery and effectively transform your color images into black-and-white. Using a basic conversion to move from color to black and white can result in photographs that are visually bland. To combat this, we learn how to analyze and utilize the color information present in our image files. We also explore and work with the Photoshop tools and layering techniques that aid us in bolstering compositional strengths while toning down areas of distraction, to more elegantly guide viewers’ eyes through our images.

With patience, and an infectiously enthusiastic approach, Rick leads participants through a series of hands-on demonstrations, practical lab exercises, and detailed explanations of specialized techniques.
