For a photographer, to capture the events of Semana Santa (Holy Week) in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico is to intimately experience a tradition that goes back centuries. San Miguel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the ideal place to witness this week-long holiday—one filled with processions, altars, and passion plays expressing the full force of Latin America’s singular mix of Catholic and indigenous religious culture. Mexico is a photographer’s paradise during Easter week, and with Sarah and Jennifer’s guidance and unparalleled access, participants spend seven days taking full advantage of the many extraordinary sights and delights unique to this special time of year in Mexico—from the San Juan de Dios Procession to the Firing of the Judases. To deepen our understanding of what we see, we are joined by a cultural expert who helps us examine Holy Week’s significance to the people of the region. Experience through your senses—and your lenses—the amazing array of Holy Week events in the beautiful colonial mountain town that is San Miguel de Allende.
Includes tuition, double occupancy hotel accommodations for seven nights (Monday through Sunday), breakfast daily, two dinners and location fees. Single supplement available for $390 additional. For additional information or to register, please call The Workshops at (505) 983-1400 x 11.
