Sean Kernan is a photographer, writer and pioneering teacher, well known for bringing out creativity in photography and life. He came to photography from theater, and is the author of two monographs, The Secret Books (with Jorge Luis Borges) and Among Trees, and is currently working on a book about his approach to creativity and a video, Crow Stories, about the Crow Reservation. He has taught and lectured at Parsons School of Design, Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Maine Media Workshops, and Yale Medical School.
Sean has exhibited internationally and won numerous awards, most recently the Center’s Teacher of the Year, as well as an honorary doctorate from Art Center College of Design. His writing and photography has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Communication Arts, Graphis, New York, and many others. This is Sean’s 12th year teaching for The Workshops.
