Rodney Smith is an award-winning photographer and an inspired teacher with years of experience, including an adjunct professorship at Yale University. He is among the few photographers who continue to publish, exhibit, lecture, and teach while also keeping up a busy assignment schedule. The passion and intensity of his portraiture, landscape, and still-life photos are balanced by a consistent classicism. His fashion, advertising, and corporate work may be seen regularly in Communication Arts Annual, Print Design Annual, Photo/Design Annual, and APA Awards books.
His recent clients include Ritz-Carlton, Estée Lauder, VISA, Lacoste, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Ralph Lauren, Coach, American Express, and IBM. His editorial work has appeared in Travel and Leisure, The New York Times Magazine, Mirabella, and W Magazine. Rodney's second book, The Hat Book (Nan A. Talese/Doubleday), was published in the fall of 1994, his third book, The Book of Books (Seven Editions), was published in the fall of 2005, and his fourth book, A Small Part of a Long Story, will be published in the spring of 2007. This is Rodney's seventh year teaching at The Workshops. His Web site address is www.rodneysmith.com.
