Leysis Quesada’s interest in photography was first inspired by her cousin, Cuban photographer Lázaro Miranda. It was under his watchful eye that Leysis made her first images in the province of Guantanamo in 1999. She has since studied with internationally known photographer David Alan Harvey as part of the Maine Photographic Workshops program in Cuba in 2000. Leysis is a member of Cuban Society of the Photographic Image and her photography has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout Havana. She is currently documenting the culture of Arab immigrants in Havana.
