Christian Witkin is a New York-based fashion and portrait photographer. Originally from Amsterdam, he moved to New York to study at Syracuse University. An assignment for Vibe Magazine in 1993 launched his professional career, garnering Christian immediate critical success and recognition for his work. Since then, he has photographed portraits and fashion for editorial clients such as Vogue (American, British, German, Spanish and Japanese editions), W, Harpers Bazaar, Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, and The London Sunday Times.
Christian’s advertising campaigns include award-winning Nike ads, memorable campaigns for IBM, American Express, Microsoft, Philips, and Calvin Klein, and the long-running celebrity branding campaign for the Gap. He has received numerous awards for his editorial and commercial work, including the Society of Publication Designers Gold Award in photography, as well as others from American Photography, Communication Arts, and Photo District News.
