»SUMMER’S Golden Glow: The Winners!
It may have been hazy, but it was certainly not lazy. SUMMER, the theme of our second photo contest for 2011, inspired 545 photographers to submit 1985 images that captured, embraced, or defined the personality of summer. Jurors Kathy Ryan, Scott Thode, Katherine Ware, and Sean Kernan reviewed this body of inspiring interpretations and chose 50 award-winning photographs.
The Grand Prize goes to Suhaimi Abdullah of Singapore for Energy. Second Prize was awarded to Romona Robbins of Fort Walton Beach for Econfina; the Third Prize winner is Fernando Garcia of Mexico City for Playing with Sun. And the esteemed Director’s Award belongs to Santa Fe’s own Carl Moore for Graciela 2.

In addition to these prize winners, 46 photographers were awarded an Honorable Mention.
Color or black-and-white, an object, a person, a location, a moment—the magic of summer lingers in these images. We congratulate the winners, we thank one and all for entering, and send a special thanks to the jurors and sponsors of SUMMER.
