June 18-24 Thanks to Photoshop, the barriers between imagination and execution have been eliminated, opening up new photographic realities to all of us. This workshop explores the creation of such new images, whether for the commercial worlds of stock, advertising, and editorial illustration or for the worlds of personal expression and fine art. Our emphasis is on seamless photo-realistic compositing, though the techniques can be equally well employed in enhancing existing photographs. Join John Lund, the author of Adobe Master Class: Photoshop Compositing, for a great week of creativity and exploration. Digital Decisions: Designing Your Personal Workflow with Dan Burkholder July 23-29 This workshop addresses the all important subject of digital workflow, but on a more customized level. We'll discard the one-size-fits-all approach to digital imaging as we tailor techniques and approaches that make the most sense for you. Dan Burkholder was one of the first photographic artists to embrace digital technology in the early 1990s. He is best known for hybridizing the power of digital imaging with the classic sensitivity of tonality and composition that has shaped the medium for 170 years. Dan will also share with participants his recent exploration of High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI). |

Led by Carlan Tapp and Jerry Courvoisier June 16-23, 2006 In this digital photography workshop, we have the opportunity to experience and photograph the celebration of the summer solstice in Chaco Canyon. From our base in Farmington, NM, we explore not only Chaco Canyon but also the surrounding dynamic landscape and historical areas. Lab work includes digital capture techniques, digital workflow processing, image processing, and group critique. With support from Microsoft, Adobe, and Dell, the Workshops provides each participant with a laptop computer complete with the latest version of Photoshop. For further details and information about registering, click HERE. Reflections of Venice: A Photographic and Cultural Exploration Led by John Weiss September 24-October 3 Ah, Venice! The legendary city of art and architecture, with 100 square miles of water, separated by a dense network of 177 canals and joined by 400 small bridges. Artists and photographers alike marvel at the quality of light in Venice during the fall, when the faded pastel 13th Century facades are glowing. Our itinerary takes us to a wide array of venues. Of course, we will photograph in the Piazza San Marco, with it's Basilica and Campanile, Ducal Palace and the tiny island of Burano. But we'll also explore the narrow, hidden-from-tourists alleyways (soporettos), where everyday life is lived by Venetians. Land cost in Venice is $3195. For complete information, please contact Strabo International Tour Company at (607) 756-8676, or call John Weiss at (410) 392-2929. Please mention that you learned about this opportunity through the Santa Fe Workshops. |
