»OUTSIDE Contest: The Winners
What do you see when you go outside? That's what we asked with our OUTSIDE contest, and 585 photographers—from 24 countries including Argentina, Namibia, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan—responded with almost 3,000 interpretations that range from sweeping landscapes, to cityscapes, to the geography of textures, forms and shapes. Jurors Amy Silverman, Debra Klomp Ching and Darren Ching, Eddie Soloway, and Reid Callanan reviewed this diversely eloquent group of photographs and chose 50 award-winning images.
The Grand Prize goes to Brian Toogood of Clio, California, for Is It Live, Or Is It Memorex?. Second Prize is awarded to Kendall Davis of Fort Worth, Texas for Flip; the Third Prize winner is Randy Bronkema of Climax, Michigan, for Sand Wave. And the esteemed Director’s Award belongs to Noreen O’Brien of Santa Fe, New Mexico, for Mantis.
In addition to these top prize winners, 46 photographers were awarded an Honorable Mention. All 50 winning images can be viewed in the online gallery on The Workshops web site.
Collectively, these 50 photographs represent an auspicious range of how differently we all see. We congratulate all the winners, we thank one and all for entering images of our big, wide, wonderful world, and we send a special thanks to the jurors and sponsors of OUTSIDE.
