New Staff Welcomed

Darcy Schwerin (in green scarf) recently joined the Santa Fe Workshops family as part of the Marketing & Public Relations team. She previously attended a workshop with us and then worked on seasonal staff as work/study and most recently as a course assistant. We welcome Darcy and her husband Michael to Santa Fe!

It is with great pleasure that the Santa Fe Workshops announces the seasonal staff for our upcoming Winter/Spring session. Pictured here along with their leaders Renie Haiduk, Nerissa Escanlar, and Joel Lipovetsky are returning staff Jennifer Davidson, Kristen Densmore, Ryan Heffernan, Dottie Lopez, BB Macias, and Sharon Mier and new crew members Poan Kang and Mark Fisher (not pictured, Inga Hendrickson).

Summer Course Descriptions Available

Many of the course descriptions for the photography and digital lab workshops in Santa Fe are now available online at www.santafeworkshops.com. The remainder of the course descriptions and our Mexico program this fall will be posted in the next couple of weeks, so check back regularly. Registrations for our Winter/Spring program are very strong and we anticipate the same for the upcoming summer session as well.

Digital Intensive Offered in May

In a departure from the usual weeklong workshop model, the Santa Fe Workshops is offering a hands-on, two-and-a-half day Digital Workflow Intensive with Nevada Wier, Michael Clark, and Jerry Courvoisier, May 5-7 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

For photographers just getting started in digital photography and those wanting an in-depth overview of workflow choices, this workshop will provide an opportunity to work hands-on with three noted and knowledgeable photographers and to clarify the complexities of this often-confusing topic. Each instructor brings a wealth of experience in digital photography and is an organized and proven workshop leader.

Fine-Art Photographic Prints for Sale

The Santa Fe Workshops is pleased to offer you the opportunity to purchase original, fine-art, signed prints from important figures in the history of 20th century photography. Photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Diane Arbus, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Paul Caponigro, Bruce Davidson, and Ernst Haas are being offered from a private collection only through the Santa Fe Workshops. Upcoming Digital Lab Workshops

Beginning Photoshop CS2 will be offered April 3-7 with Brenda Kelley. This introduction to the concepts, language, and tools of Photoshop is one of our most popular workshops. The workshop provides a foundation from which to build your confidence in using this powerful image-processing software.

Perhaps you already have the basics of Photoshop CS2 down and want to improve the way you work and increase your productivity. The Practical User's Guide to Photoshop CS2 with Jerry Courvoisier April 10-14 focuses on developing your expertise and provides you with shortcuts and strategies to make your workflow more productive.

Introduction to Final Cut Pro with Chi-Ho Lee April 24-27 is designed for anyone interested in editing professional-quality video using Apple's Final Cut Pro. Topics discussed include capturing footage from tapes, working with audio, and marking and editing clips.

Big Sur Workshop with Eddie Soloway

Veteran workshop instructor Eddie Soloway is offering his popular "Natural Eye" workshop at Big Sur, California, March 16-19. He weaves together some of the elements of his Santa Fe-based workhop, including activities designed to open up a natural eye and fine-tuning technical ideas that help you capture what you see. The beautiful surroundings of this area set the tone for both individual and group learning.

Calumet Presents Silver Conference and Competition

Calumet has added some updated information about the upcoming Silver Conference and Competition in Pasadena, CA. You'll see more links to speakers' websites and more details about the panelists and topics for the conference. Also, be sure to download the competition entry form and details.

This conference is jointly sponsored by Ilford Photo and Calumet Photographic and is a must-attend event for dedicated black-and-white photographers and printmakers. Plenty of spots are still available but it's recommended that you register early to ensure your place at the conference.
