»PORTRAITS Contest: The Winners
Environmental, studio, self, pet, alternative process, or iPhone. No matter what the genre, PORTRAITS inspired 960 photographers (from 32 countries) to submit 3743 images that embraced portraiture. Jurors Aline Smithson, Amber Terranova, Andrew Smith, and Reid Callanan reviewed this body of inspiring interpretations and chose 50 award-winning photographs. These four photographers were tops in capturing the moments that tell the story of a life.
The Grand Prize goes to Pat Galagan of Santa Fe, for Miquel y Josie. Second Prize is awarded to Vance Gellert of Minneapolis, Minnesota, for Nina and Misha; the Third Prize winner is Carolina Sanchez-Monge of The Hague, Netherlands, for In the Pool. And the esteemed Director’s Award belongs to Jody Ake of Portland, Oregon, for Ezra.
In addition to these prize winners, 46 photographers were awarded an Honorable Mention. All 50 winning images can be viewed on The Workshops web site. The winning images will also be featured on Aline Smithson’s Lenscratch blogzine.
We congratulate the winners, we thank one and all for entering, and send a special thanks to the jurors and sponsors of PORTRAITS.
