Healing Retreat for Women with Cancer, March in Santa Fe

According to an old Chinese saying, a life crisis can be the occasion both for suffering and for welcome change. A cancer diagnosis, in this way, may be met with struggle, fear, and resignation, or viewed as an opportunity for deep reflection and resolution of old patterns and issues. Even as they deal medically with their disease, many people are deeply engaged in letting go of old patterns of behavior and inventing new actions that honor life, bring peace, and promote healing.

Scheduled for March 26-April 1 in Santa Fe, this special workshop, led by Matthew Budd, M.D., Elizabeth Opalenik, and Connie Reider, is about seizing the opportunity for positive change and making life-giving choices. The instructors guide participants to identify and reflect on destructive patterns and bring forth new and satisfying behaviors. Our week together includes self-reflective talks and exercises, free writing, inspiration from the world’s wisdom and spiritual literature, and creative art-making. Photography is the vehicle that we use to strengthen our creative “muscles” as we search for new solutions to old problems.

Easter Week in the Heartland of Mexico

This is the third year for this 11-day workshop, led by photographer Raul Touzon, which takes full advantage of the myriad of sights and delights of Holy Week in Colonial Mexico. In addition to daily photographic opportunities, time is devoted to reviews and critiques as well as short lectures on how to improve your photographic skills.
