SUMMER Winners

It may have been hazy, but it certainly was not lazy. SUMMER, the theme of our second photo contest for 2011, inspired 545 photographers from 24 countries—including Cambodia, Costa Rica, Hungary, Israel, Korea, Latvia, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam—to submit 1985 images that captured, embraced, or defined the personality of summer. Jurors Kathy Ryan, Scott Thode, Katherine Ware, and Sean Kernan reviewed this body of inspired interpretations and chose 50 award-winning photographs.

Color or black-and-white, an object, a person, a location, a moment—the magic of summer lingers in these images. We congratulate the winners, we thank one and all for entering, and send a special thanks to the jurors and sponsors of SUMMER.
